TIMBERTEK TECHNOLOGY

Timbertek represents a significant step forward towards the holy grail of any product designed and manufactured in today's environmentally conscious world. While by no means sustainably built, Firewire's Timbertek has by far one of the least toxic and smallest carbon footprints of any commercially available surfboard today.

Grant Newby, a talented Australian craftsman first turned us on to the potential of this construction, and following his lead, our internal R&D and production crew worked tirelessly to make this tech possible in a production setting. Building one-offs or small quantities is one thing (and not to be discounted), but it took a tremendous effort to overcome all the issues that arose as we tweaked the original recipe to increase performance and build reasonable quantities. Of course having our own vertical factory was a huge help.

The combination of a lightweight EPS core, sustainably-grown wood deck skins, Firewire's proprietary parabolic rail construction, and anEntropy bio-resin hot coat yield an extremely lightweight, durable surfboard with all of the high performance flex characteristics of Firewire's existing technologies. Even more impressive, the physical properties of the raw materials involved have allowed us to reduce exterior lamination to rail laps only, furthering the reduction of the board’s carbon footprint. Or as we like to describe Timbertek, it's simply High Performance Art.

FUTURE SHAPES TECHNOLOGY

FST relies primarily on the PARABOLIC Balsa Rail to control flex while the high density aerospace composite vacuumed to both top and bottom decks provides significant impact strength, and is stronger than the traditional PU surfboard. Please note our boards are definitely not indestructible and if slammed by a thick lip, or if you land incorrectly in the flats after doing an aerial, it is possible to break them.

The Parabolic Balsa Rail features 12mm balsa built from 3 x 4mm strips, which as mentioned not only control flex and add strength, but also act as a buffer against rail dings. Furthermore, the long-term flex memory supplied by the balsa rails ensures boards maintain their lively feel for longer.

With a retail price point slightly above premium polyurethane surfboards, FST offers an extremely high performance, durable surfboard.

RAPIDFIRE TECHNOLOGY

RF is a hybrid technology, combining the carbon rod suspension of DD with a bamboo top deck skin.

Developed in conjunction with Surfboard Suspension Systems, RF's core is shaped from 2lb fused EPS foam and the bamboo skin is applied using Firewire's proven sandwich construction. Unlike FST and DD, the 2lb foam and bamboo deck sandwich do not require a vent.

The interior carbon rods work with the bamboo skin to optimize flex patterns, maximizing speed and drive through turns, and while not as dent resistant as the DD or FST aerospace composite skin, the bamboo does create significant compression strength. Please note our boards are definitely not indestructible and if slammed by a thick lip, or if you land incorrectly in the flats after doing an aerial, it is possible to break them.

RF’s flex characteristic is similar to FST and the overall effect is a highly tuned surfboard with increased performance over traditional surfboard constructions. RF retails in line with premium PU surfboards.

So whether you prefer the pinnacle technology of Direct Drive, the Parabolic Balsa Rail performance of Future Shapes Technology or the hybrid technology of Rapidfire, Firewire continues to define the 'Future of Shape.'

WHITE RAPIDFIRE TECHNOLOGY

White Rapidfire: A product of continued research and development, the White Rapidfire construction substitutes a PVC-free and VOC-free composite deckskin for the original bamboo inlay. This composite maintains the overall flex and durability of the board giving it the same great Rapidfire ride with a fresh new appearance. Contact your local Firewire dealer for more information.

CROSSFIRE TECHNOLOGY

Crossfire is a hybrid technology, combining the bamboo deck skin of Rapidfire Technology on both the top and bottom decks with the Balsa Parabolic rails of Future Shapes Technology to control flex. The result is a durable, lightweight surfboard with great flex characteristics.
